My Story

The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefor the physician must start from nature, with an open mind.

– Philipus Aureolus Paracelus

About Me

My name is Lori Charett, I grew up loving animals and really feeling a kinship with them, to the point that I brought home just about any critter I could get my hands on. Growing up in Connecticut around several dogs and exploring the outdoors, I developed a passion and respect for all living creatures and mother earth.

From Dream to Reality

I pursued my dream career as a Park Ranger and worked seasonally in Connecticut while I attended college. I then moved west to San Diego, California where I worked as a Park Ranger for twenty three years and completed my formal education. The Park Ranger profession afforded me to be in the beautiful outdoors protecting our natural, cultural and historical resources while meeting wonderful like minded people.

My Journey

Along my journey, I have adopted many wonderful dogs. I did not take the easy route, I always adopted the ones that were extra special, which meant I immersed myself in learning reputable rehabilitation methods so I could help my dogs learn to be balanced, confident and happy. When the going got tough with one dog, I hired an Animal Behaviorist and eventually ended up working with him to maximize my knowledge and experience. As time went on, I moved on to more challenging dogs and I adopted Ranger (photo on left) that needed a great deal of behavior modification, training and rehabilitation.

Rehabilitating Ranger

I enrolled Ranger in obedience classes to expose him to additional challenges and we enjoyed it so much we continued with several classes and soon thereafter I became an Obedience Instructor. Ranger was a very special boy, he taught me more than I think I could ever teach him. Ranger lacked confidence and life experience when I adopted him at 6 months old, he had a multitude of issues that included severe separation anxiety.

When I sought out additional means to help him, a friend told me about Reiki. Admittedly, I was very skeptical but I was also desperate to help Ranger as traditional methods were not effective. In fact, medications were doing more harm than good!

Reiki to the Rescue!

Sometimes when we are desperate for answers or solutions, we are forced to think outside the box. I was desperate to help Ranger so when Reiki and its benefits were brought to my attention, I listened! I figured we had nothing to lose and it made sense once I learned about it and experienced it for myself.  I took Ranger to his Reiki sessions weekly for quite a while. During that time, I saw firsthand how effective Reiki was, as Ranger evolved into a well balanced, more confident, happy and obedient dog. He looked forward to his weekly Reiki sessions and if I didn’t witness his beautiful healing transition myself, I wouldn’t have believed it! I turned into the ultimate believer of this holistic healing modality as I continually saw and experienced its benefits.  To this day, many years later, Reiki still amazes me!

Our Journey to Virginia

In 2013, I hung up my ranger hat and moved to southwest Virginia to be closer to family. I have enjoyed the beautiful mountains, hiking and camping opportunities in Virginia with my husband and dogs and getting back to the "small town" community where I strive to make a difference in the lives of the 2 and 4 legged members.

When I arrived with my dogs, I had to start over in so many ways. Change of location led to reigniting some of Rangers separation anxiety and later some trauma that he experienced with another dog. This resulted in me researching Reiki in this area.

Ranger received Reiki locally and at that point I felt a calling to learn Reiki for not only him but to help other animals and people to become healthy, balanced and happy.

My Calling

Over the course of several years, I worked through the levels of Reiki training and I have achieved the level of Reiki Master. Sadly, Ranger has since passed on, but he led me on this Reiki path and I will be forever grateful to him and to my Reiki Teacher and friend who opened up my world to this safe and effective healing modality that I love to share with people and animals.

I have developed "Reiki Connection" to fulfill a need in our community and a need in my heart. With the stress that so many of us experience with balancing work and family obligations in a fast paced society, it is no wonder why disease is on the increase in America. Our animals also experience stress, anxiety, trauma, etc and that invites illness to manifest.

I practice Reiki on both people and animals. I find great pleasure in helping people and animals live to their full potential in order to overcome challenges, release trauma and anxiety and facilitate healing so that you and/or your pet can live a happy, healthy balanced life!
